I loved mythology when I was a kid. My local library mostly had Greek and Norse but we had a bible at home and I managed to find bits and pieces of stuff from other cultures. One thing I noticed was that divine beings tended to favor complexity. Procrustes was a giant, not a god and he was a bad guy.
