A friend whose home is on the northern shore of Haida Gwaii has jars of sea glass in her kitchen window. It’s pretty when the sun is shining through.

The slightly random comment from Amelia makes me think she’s holding back a compliment.

Reminds me of Huckleberry Finn. Huck winds up accidentally as the travel buddy of a formerly enslaved African American, who is pretty chuffed to find out how much money someone was willing to pay for him. “White trash,” of course, had no such reassurance of worth. It’s implied that the two are close friends, regardless.
