Tools accumulate as one learns. A friend needed a new burner for her gas fireplace. For about half the cost I bought a drill press and made one. Bought a miter saw when I replaced the flooring in the Great Room of the last house.
If a guy wanted to build something he didn’t have the tools for I guess he’d have to figure it out and make do or find better tools.Making do & finding different tools for a project can be a lot of fun!
As you collect the tools you needed for a specific job, be aware that someone is going to say, “Why do you still have that thing? When’s the last you used it?”

Potato (or egg cannon) is easy. A length of PVC in an appropriate diameter, a spring and a launching handle!
