In our broadcast booth there’s a sign on the wall above the mixing board that reads, “If you care, don’t swear.”

The FCC comes down hard on college & community stations for any “7 dirty words” infractions, mainly because these don’t have the money for fines or appeals (bye bye broadcast license), whilst the big corporate stations just write the fines off under “advertising expenses.”

Bring back the Anglo-Saxon words! If it is acceptable to say feces, poop, or doo doo, it should be acceptable in any vernacular. The French Normans can go fornicate among themselves.

Reminds me of an older Dutch (?) commercial I remember seeing on TV. It showed a family, with young kids, getting in the car while a rap song is playing. The family starts bobbing their heads along with it and then you hear the verses (I wanna, I wanna, I wanna f**k you in the a**). Then it ended with an ad saying “Learning English?” with the name of the company.

I never cursed as a teenager. But I had to spell other things around my younger siblings as a teenager. For example if I was going to the store I had to spell out that I was doing so. .
