Brutus is simply taking the advice of a superb illustrator and comic strip creator who said: “Yesterday’s the past, tomorrow’s the future, but today is a gift. That’s why it’s called the present.” Bil Keene Creator of The Family Circus.
After the age of 13 the kids in my neighbourhood were allowed out at night to play until the curfew alarm sounded at 9 PM. Then, there was a mad rush to be home. Nobody wore a wristwatch, so it was play, play, play … then run, run, run!
I watch the old Johnny Carson reruns that range from about 40+ years ago, most during the Carter/Reagan’Bush1 days. It is interesting that many of the economic, governing, foreign affairs, tax and racial issues are exactly the same as today. It’s as though we’ve made no progress. And now we have those who would take us further back.
Many years ago when she was a child my granddaughter asked me what was the most exciting thing we had now that didn’t exist when I was a boy, I thought about it for a second and replied “Angelina Jolie”. She was shocked. “Grandpa!!” Now I would have told her “Sydney Sweeney”.
Truly funny. And that is a perfect Yogi-ism. If he didn’t say it he should have! I hope the teacher doesn’t dock Wilberforce’s grade – he was just reporting!

Dad nailed it. Another way to put it is, the more things change, the more they stay the same.

I hope they don’t call Brutus and ask him to expound on that.

He should’ve asked his mom.

It’s hard to dispute the logic in Brutus’ statement that Wilberforce read.
