Novels. From the beginning of Francis’ Papacy I believed that he must have read and been inspired by “The Shoes of the Fisherman” by Morris West. Eventually I encountered an article which confirmed that belief.
The Gospels: we already know the spoilers. Try reading it as if you were there as a first century Jew under Roman occupation with a collaborating high priest and 1% class and you DON’T know how things will turn out.
