    It is rather amazing how most parents can see in their mind’s eye exactly what is happening just from the sounds being made by their kids. They also know that trouble is afoot by the silences as well.

    Yeah, when kids or puppies are too quiet, it’s time to see what’s going on. In her case, it was a prescient, preemptive instruction.

    I live in a nursing home and one of the former residents use to scream for help all day long, even right after the aide left his room. Everyone got so use to his screams that he was often ignored. I use to joke that the only time anyone worried about him was when he wasn’t screaming.
