I’ve been reading this strip for nearly seven years. I knew Buckles would be fine. Yet, this here strip plucked one kf my heartstrings a bit! After seeing what could very well have been the most traumatic aspect that was ever shown in this strip, it’s rewarding and heartwarming to see the gang all back together. Of all the arcs I’ve read, Mr. Gilbert, this one is high up on my list of favorites!
I was coming home one day. A truck backfired and a dog who had gone missing ran into my car. I wrapped him in a blanket, another group of people called Animal Control, the local police responded to comfort me. The dog was taken to the emergency vet. A woman who stopped said she had seen the missing dog poster and sent a worker at the CVS near where the poster was hanging to take a picture of the poster and send it to her. The dog was reunited with his person, the dog had a dislocated leg and a few abrasions and was sent home that night. The dog had been lost for over a week. I hate driving past that intersection thinking if I had been driving a little faster and got there a little later the outcome would have been dire.

It’s still precious to see that Paul and Jill still care about Buckles even after what happened.

It’s not often that Buckles has nothing to say!

sorry to be the pessimistic one, but he has to come out of the anesthetic before anyone can be certain he is going to be o.k.

Right up there with the strip where the dog saved the family’s little girl from drowning, and drowned itself. :’-(
