I get in and out of Starbucks in the time it takes cars to move up two places at the drive-thru.

Very cute Mallett! Starbuck is, of course, a character from Moby Dick. So is Queequeg.

And it turns out that

Queequeg’s Coffee is one of the two competing worldwide coffee shop networks in 2072. Its main competitor is Pequod’s.

The only advantage of the drive-thru is that you don’t have to be dressed to use it.

Guess having someone do it for one is somehow better than doing it oneself. Lots of that going around.

I sometimes wonder if the drivers of those cars went through the long line at a McDonalds Drive Thru before or after their Starbucks round?

I’m guessing we haven’t suffered enough from human induced climate change. Governments don’t dare legislate drive-thrus or unnecessary idling away, businesses won’t get ride of them and we happily line up in our F-150s thinking my little contribution can’t be making much of a difference. No worries…

I always park and walk into the shop. After commuting in NYC traffic for over thirty years, I can’t stand sitting in traffic.

I rarely go to SB since there is a Michigan based chain, and several independents, but it always seems busy enough inside as well

True story. When Starbucks was starting it was going to be named “Pequods”, the ship in Moby Dick. After test marketing and focus groups they determined that people were not that excited to order a cup of coffee named Pee-Quod. Itstead the name that tested MUCH better was Starbucks, as Starbucks was the First Mate on the ship, Pequod. The owner/founder was a huge Moby Dick fan, BTW.

The First Mate was named Starbuck, no “S” on the end. My bad.

There is more fuel, wasted and more pollution created at Starbucks drive-through lines than any other place in the world

I tried standing erect once. Didn’t care for it.

Queequeg’s is very clever, but my favorite is from Zits where it was Fourbucks and the mermaid logo looked more like The Scream.
