So you can soak the dishes for 20 minutes and wash for 10, or not soak them and scrub ā€˜em for 30 minutes. Looks to me like Daveā€™s working smart, not hard.

I used to work as a cook (They called me ā€œchef Jeffā€) and when I did closing shift the first thing I did was let the pans and knives soak. By the time I finished my other duties, dishes were a breeze.

I just ā€œseasonā€ the dishes. Scrape off the chunks, add a very light layer of vegetable oil, and put them away. If you wash them it takes off the patina.

    ā€¦

I have to admit that in 1992 we once needed the bathtube to soak the dishes. Ok, we were freshly in love back then and working 60-70 h per weekā€¦ But still it was a tad bit embarrassing ;-) (blush & hide)

Thatā€™s what you get putting a TV and an recliner in the kitchen.

I worked in a restaurant for 30 yearsā€¦soaking dishes was part of the processā€¦breakfast dishes with eggs, let them soak before running thru the dish machine or youā€™d end up running the same dishes thru a few times. We kept a sink of hot water just for soaking dishes before running them thru the machine. Pans weā€™d put water in them and set them aside to soak, made them easier to scrub and run thru the machine. My wife doesnā€™t like it when I soak dishes at home, then wonders why I donā€™t like to help with the dishes more often.

As a 24th year retiree, I see absolutely no reason for that button. Iā€™m at the 72% point of my AT&T career. And the cradle-to-grave rumor is coming true.

Clearly, they need a much smaller sink. :)

People who have only a few dishes never have this problem.

You wonā€™t need to soak them if you let the dog clean them!
