I remember thinking back in 1979 (I think, still, a low point in modern American history – so far – with inflation out of control, gasoline prices skyrocketing, Iran hostage crisis, Soviets in Afghanistan, Europe afraid to do anything etc. etc.) and thinking “I wonder if these will be the ‘good old days’ we look back on someday?”. Now, I look back on that time with mostly good memories (I was only 26 at the time)! Hard to believe, but true.
My folks had the news on 24/7 when I was growing up. When it wasn’t television news it was radio news. There was no escaping it. Small wonder that ever since being on my own I mainly read, rarely listen to, news.

Maybe turn off the tv and be careful with what you read.

Late 1960’s. I am glad I grew up and began my career in the 50’s and 60’s.

The ‘good old days’ are every day before today. Too many friends didn’t have them.

A true statement. Today the news and media think it’s their job to stir things up.
