Went shopping today, normal day is TuesdayâŠâŠ.WOWâŠit was worse than the onset of the pandemic. Rationing TP and water. I got a 24 pack of Coors light, jelly donuts were sold out! Guy at gym said our nasty weather normally comes when it is from the Atlantic side. Looks like he is wrong
Thereâs a fundamental difference between being made from scratch and from a box Brutus. Hopefully it takes some of the guesswork out of Gladys, cooking. So eat up!
dear olâ mom was ecstatic when they first came out with cookie dough rolls and i donât recall complaining that they werenât âhome madeâ⊠âș
Sending heartfelt prayers of protection to all in Florida. My heart goes out to you all. I still tear up seeing videos of the destruction from Helene. There are no words, my heart cries.
Well, not only did she âassembleâ it, but she had to mix up the batter and bake it. So I guess she can take some of the credit.
Interesting history of boxed cake mixes: They were around at least since the Depression, but sales went flat in the early 50s. Market researchers learned that housewives didnât like the âjust add waterâ products â it left them feeling as if they hadnât made enough effort and werenât doing their jobs. So the mixes were changed so they had to add an egg, and sales went up. Another successful ploy was to encourage women to decorate their cakes, to make it their own.

Thatâs the kind I bake Gladys. My daughter really does make them from scratch though.

I never liked chocolate cake. Strawberry was my favorite, but Iâd also eat vanilla or lemon flavored.

Itâs still homemade even if she had a little help from Betty Crocker.

Made at home is home made. Its not like they are going to mill their own flour or refine their own sugar, etc.

Sheâs right. Where would you draw the line? Do you have to lay the eggs at home to make it âhomemadeâ? :D

Brutus, you are better off with a cake made from a mix than anything Gladys will cook from scratch.

Made at home of imported parts. Odds of it being edible are better. This way all she has to do is read correctly.
