Well after the revolution, future historians will write disapprovingly of the fact that even the child at the Nuttingham estate was a victim of the revolutionaries. Little do they know.
Back in the day, Bob Newhart had to choose between being a full time accountant or a full time comic. One of his side gigs was doing a weekly double check of the books at a large firm. They wanted him to go over the regular books and straighten out the petty cash.
The regular books were easy, because they were kept by other accountants; the petty cash box was a nightmare because it was regular folks. One night Bob realized he’d spent an hour trying to track one nickel. He just pulled out a nickel of his own and threw it in the box.
A few weeks later he gets called into the big boss’s office. All the brass are there and they demand to know if he’s been juggling the petty cash box.
When Bob saw that the bosses were willing to go to all this effort to make sure that none of their employees was stealing a nickel he instantly decided that he had to be a comic.
I read that Spy magazine wanted to find the stingiest billionaire. They mailed checks for $2.00 to a bunch of them, only a few were cashed. They steadily reduced the amount, until only one check, for 13 cents, was cashed. Can anyone guess who cashed a 13 cent check?
If there are in fact two quarters on the front drive, and not slugs, say, then they should be captured and deposited in the “miscellaneous revenue” account.
But they could certainly use that surveillance system over at the Transit Authority detention facility in Dick Tracy, where camera outages are so common that they’re taken for granted.
classic case of “spend a dollar to save a penny.” Those 50 cents, which are almost literally NOTHING to him and likely weren’t his in the first place since I don’t think he’s ever even handled a coin that wasn’t some collectible antique, were “saved” at the cost of several hours of that security guard’s wages, the dozens of cameras installed all over the property, and the electricity needed to run them

Look out for the quarters, and the dollars look after themselves.

It would be funnier if there weren’t people really like that.

Don’t hire anyone to watch that camera. That will freak him out even more.

An obvious example of “penny wise, pound foolish”.
