Trick or Treaters don’t come here. And my neighbors wouldn’t peel themselves away from the TV to answer their door anyway. I kinda miss seeing the kiddos, but I don’t miss buying candy at today’s prices!
NATIONAL DOORBELL DAY. For me, it’s mute the doorbell day. I fix my doorbell so it won’t ring if any trick-or-treaters stop by. I leave the light off in front of the house too. Not that I’m a Halloween grinch (though I sort of am – I don’t like Halloween), but the doorbell scares the cats. And every time it rings, I have a cat on my lap and they jump off my lap so fast, they get me with their claws. It’s just better all around to pretend I’m not home.
NATIONAL CARAMEL APPLE DAY. I thought it was caramel apple day a few days ago? Or maybe it was just apple day.
Is it Chesney’s ghostly Uncle Harold?? Yesterday I ended up hiking for 8 hours and didn’t get anywhere. The trail I’ve been waiting for a cold windless day for a year had an icy stream crossing, I made it across the first 9 rocks but couldn’t safely reach the last one. Turned back and took another trail I didn’t realize was so steep and long and never made it the final mile to that lake. Turns out it’s a 2500 foot elevation gain, way beyond my capabilities. Fell asleep at 6:30 without dinner.
No trick or treaters here either.(55+ community here) I’m kind of glad. Oliver (MY little tuxie) hides when the doorbell rings or there’s a knock at the door.
Folks, it is with heavy heavy heart that I had to put my Murphy to sleep today. He was diagnosed with Diabetes a month ago and along with the Feline Leukemia, his body could not take it any more. He was a Precious Precious kitty and I will miss him terribly. RIP my Orange boy. I posted some pictures on FB!
Trick or Treaters descended upon my little neighborhood @4:00. These were the sweet, tiny kiddies with adult escorts. Soon after, just as it began to darken, the throngs/hoards arrived. OMG, could be a new record. There was police presence blocking a street around the corner from mine with his van. The cop said there were a number of complaints. Ya think? I couldn’t walk on the sidewalk or in the street. Saw and chatted with a few neighbors. My daughter came in from CT last night. She went out last night to visit an ill friend. Today she is sick and stayed in her 3rd floor apartment all day and couldn’t enjoy going out among the revelers. I brought food up to her.
It turns out, they left the refrigerator door ajar, and the light Chesney sees is from the refrigerator. He beats a jar of sauerkraut and stinks up the warehouse. The End.
If there’s something strange in the neighborhood, who you gonna call? Probably not Chesney. (Unless that something strange is susceptible to blows on the head.) On another note, saw four chickadees and four varied thrushes while out walking today.
