Nerds quite often excel AFTER school. Being good or bad in gym class is not an accurate prognosticator of future success / power.
Like the joke I once heard. “I used to call him nerd. I used to call him dweeb. I used to call him dork. Now I call him boss.”
What makes me skeptical? All those college degrees inside the Beltway…..
following the old stereotype about being smart means not being athletic
I Excel on the computer. I also Word, PowerPoint, and Firefox. I’ve even been known to verb a noun.
What is it about gym class that you equate with power? I never felt more powerless than when I was required to fail repeatedly at climbing a rope for reazons the gym teacher couldn’t (or wouldn’t) explain.
As they say in Schoolhouse Rock: “As your body grows bigger, your mind must flower, it’s great to learn – ’cause knowledge is power!”
Stephen Nedoroscik anyone?
Healthy body healthy mind.
Not all knowledge is created equal. Understanding that is called wisdom.
They could if they would apply themselves.
