Actually, Poncho is closer to the truth than he realises in comparing the Popemobile to the Batmobile. The Batmobile is needed to protect Batman as well as to help him to protect Gotham City.

I remember the year 1981 when the Pope was shot and Prince Charles married Princess Diana. I was a fourteen-year-old schoolboy for most of that year. It shocked and amazed me that anyone would shoot the Pope.

I imagine if a high powered bullet hit the pope-gayety mobile, he would STILL die, from a heart attack.

No doubt Santa’s sleigh is equipped with LED lights, radar, altimeter, satellite radio, etc. (No backup camera needed.)

Quite a world we’ve created, huh? The leader of what claims to be the greatest force for peace on earth needs to be protected from violence. What would Jesus do?

Now, now. There’s quite a few people who would wish to do harm to Santa, like Calvin for example.

It is. The pope just doesn’t need them very often. I mean really. How often do you ever see the Pope signal?

I think a modern Santa would fly a stealth jet.

The Pope has the Pope-mobile because someone DID try to kill St. Pope John Paul II. They almost succeeded, too. The deviation of the bullet just enough to miss the major artery was truly miraculous.
