I’ve never seen that show, but a number of people became stars from it: Dan Ackroyd, John Belushi, Tina Fey, Chevy Chase, etc.

Lately I’ve been watching Laugh-In reruns. I enjoyed them when they first aired and I’m enjoying them again (I get the references). There was one episode that freaked me out though. Each show had a segment called Laugh-In looks at the news. And in that segment they had news from 20 years in the future. In one episode the future news went something like

“Dateline 1988, 20 years in the future. President Ronald Reagan…”

    Freaky or what???

Leroy didn’t think it was funny, of course. But at least he understood the reference.

I think I might have trouble getting a reference from an SNL skit if I were to actually watch the show.

Yeah, and the reference was. “Oh, Never Mind!”…

SNL’s glory days are behind it, Irreverence was funny, today we get slighted by the smallest pun. Weekend Update is a look back to when SNL was funny.

The absolute best version of SNL was the first 5 years. It was funny during the Eddie Murphy Years (when it was “The Eddie Murphy Show”). Hasn’t been very funny since Wayne’s World or Hanz and Franz.
