A Plugger knows he needs to stay in balance so he carries an equal number of bags in each hand. Thus he has no spare hand to reach over to the pocket with his keys in it to retrieve them.
Since I ride a motorcycle, I always go in and take off my gear first. So when I bring in the groceries, the door is unlocked and equally important I’ve cleared space in the kitchen.
House keys on the left, car key on the right. Usually, I am able to get push the last car door closed with my hip and hit the lock button on the car key fob with one free finger. Then the bags set on the front stoop while I fumble for the house key and unlock the door.

This Plugger has a car with remote hatch. Still can’t reach fob or hit button in my pocket.

A real plugger knows which hand needs to be free to open the door when they pick up the bags.

Of course, the other hand is holding 3 or 4 bags too.

He’s OK if he’s headed to his late-model car, your keys never have to leave your pocket.
