I’ve noticed there haven’t been any Christmas-themed comics on this strip. Has Hartlepool cancelled the holiday out of fear that Capp would consume all the eggnog???

I’m amazed Andy is computer literate. Although I do see he’s a one finger tapper. I’ll bet that’s from betting sites though.

I was on unemployment and had to log in weekly, report my job searches, and then they approved my dole check. The computer kept rejecting me after a few weeks and I visited the office thinking they could fix it. All I got was “Keep trying, you gotta be persistent!” Three weeks no check then suddenly a four week check arrived. I figure they may have hired a computer jockey to fix their programs. At that time, due to a security lapse, Nigeria scammers stole $200,000,000 from the State Unemployment office. I think the case was never solved.

The computer is probably the least of his worries…

On Friday, a comment about Buster Comic – in which Buster was sometimes billed as “Buster – Son of Andy Capp” – led me to comment on the comics that I read in the 1970s besides Buster. Among those I recalled were Buzz Comic – which I remembered as starting in January 1973 – and Cracker Comic which started two weeks after Buzz Comic finished and which continued two strips from Buzz – “Skookum School” and “Spookum School”. The latter was Skookum School at night when it was haunted by ghostly pupils and a ghostly teacher.

I have since looked up Buzz and Cracker and I see that the first issue of Buzz was dated 20 January 1973 and the last issue was dated 4 January 1975. The first issue of Cracker came two weeks later and was dated 18 January 1975. The last issue of Cracker would be dated 11 September 1976. Some strips from Buzz were incorporated into The Topper which became The Topper and Buzz for a time. Some strips from Cracker were incorporated into The Beezer and that became The Beezer and Cracker for a time.

User Error, replace user and try again.

Reg Smythe would be spinning in his grave. No way is Andy computer literate. He can’t even spell ‘computer’.
