I hardly drink coffee anymore. I had a cup out of pure randomness after at least two years, it was too bitter even after I sweetened it. Now I drink matcha and other teas
I had a gastric surgery a couple of years ago. One of the things they warned me about was that my tastes might change — I might stop liking certain foods, etc. The only real change for me has been that I LOVE coffee now. It used to just be a vehicle for caffeine, but now I really like it!
Me? Since even the best coffees are bitter, I prefer mine to taste like a donut. (I also believe the idea of ice coffee came from moms who had no choice but to learn to drink their forgotten caffeine cold.)
Coffee (hot) is a yes for me, iced or hot tea is good but not my day starter. I’ve learned to do without sweeteners. I did get started young with coffee with lots of cream and sugar. Most likely caffeine is what I muddled through as treatment for undiagnosed ADHD or something. College focus was much better with coffee. Too late at this point to bother with testing. Light roasts offer more caffeine and seem less bitter to me. Your mileage may vary.

The first cartoon I saw of yours was one about disguising the taste of coffee! It was the first one I saved on GoComics too.

I started out at around eight years old with coffee ice cream. Fifty-five years later, I can take it black, but prefer a squirt of Reddi Wip in it.

As I have often said (probably in comments to this strip), coffee is a beverage that smells awesome… and tastes awful.

To paraphrase Apocalypse Now: “I love the smell of coffee in the morning. It smells like … consciousness .”

Our cat is always disappointed when she sniffs the coffee cups. We don’t let her on the dining table. We have our morning coffee in the living room.
