The first thing I would do is request a letter by certified mail. Either that or hang up, and call the IRS back at the number listed on their site.

It’s that time of year when the hoaxers appear!

Fortunately, this is one of the easiest scams to detect because the IRS will never call us and instead will send a government letter providing a number to call them. AARP has been putting out that warning for many years now.

I turned off my answering machine and when someone calls, music plays on my phone to alert me of the calls. I’m so done. Some days I get 6~9 calls and some call 2~3 times a day! Registering on the do not call list does NOTHING!

“The 12 days of Taxmas” seems fitting.

I still want some device that sends a megawatt jolt back down the line to the caller. Pressing the star key seems apropos for that feature.
