When Punto ( pictured) was little, he needed antibiotics for an infection. I crushed the pills, put them into chicken baby food, put the mixture on my finger and put my finger into his mouth. He never bit me and he got his pills. He’s a big healthy boy now.
I have to give my cat a diuretic twice a day. A cat who can surgically remove a mouse stomach, using only her teeth, has no problem in excising a pill from any food substance. I have the pharmacy pulverize the pills and mix with chicken-flavored oil which is administered with an eyedropper.
She was still so upset by the medication that she became a 99% outdoors cat for eight months. Fortunately, once the weather turned cool, Colette decided a couple of squirts a day was a small price to pay for indoor heat and unlimited food access. We’ve become buddies again.

‘Yummy pill pockets’ never worked with my cats.

Mitty, either take the pill treat, or Mama will have to pill you. That’s worse, and you don’t get a treat with that.

Our one cat has to take blood pressure medicine. It’s a cream that we rub into the inside of his ear. I wish all pet medicine was that easy to give.

Take your pill and quit complaining, Mittens.

I don’t have cats. I have doggos, and the pill pocket doesn’t work on them either.
