I’m on my third brand. Unlike the other two, these have real volume controls, plus side and front microphones; so the noise reduction works fairly well. On the highest reduction setting, you canbarely hear anything that isn’t right in front of you.
They work ok one on one or with just a half dozen folks. However, in the big W stores they become pure nerve wracking noise funnels and painful to the psyche.
My only concern when I bought my hearing aid was the tone quality when I play my guitar, I’ve had them since August and with the phone app it is pretty good as I can change the volume and sound balance (soft to sharp) but it is not the same quality as what my ears are used to, it is like listening to a small transistor radio – the natural bass tone takes a hit and the highs are sharper, put it this way my less expensive guitar sounds richer than my concert quality guitar with the hearing aid on.
our landlord’s 86-yo mother, who’s also our neighbor, either doesn’t actually use her hearing aids or just chooses to ignore what other folks try to say to her. either way, “conversation” is a one-way street… ☺

Patriarch of his family got new hearing aids but didn’t tell the family. After a big get together he changed his will.

Lots of folks turn them off a lot, especially during noisy get togethers.

Don’t we all do that, not really listening to others even without hearing aids?

My hearing is fine, it´s my brain that isn´t listening.
