It’s a Festivus for the rest of us!

If you don’t celebrate, don’t worry you can still be happy or merry

I can dig it! A holiday specifically in honor of Meriadoc Brandybuck? It’s a start.

There is quite a few of us, it seems. Well, Merry Day(s) to all of you, whether you celebrate, or not.

Happy Festivus.

I should have used “Merry Day” in my Christmas card letter a while back. Since we had a long card list, and since several people on the list observed other holidays than Christmas, and because I didn’t want to have different versions of the letter and keep track of who got which letter, I used “Happy Holidays”. Almost everybody was just fine about that, but I did get some nasty responses from alt-rights who were incensed… That’s okay, the list was too long anyway so I dropped the nasty folks off the list.

I say Merry Christmas, but if someone says seasons greetings, I say and to you, and if someone says Happy Hanukkah, I say and too you, if someone says happy new year, I say and to you, if someone says happy Kwanza I say and to you.
