I shutdown my computer every night, my wife leaves her personal computer running but shuts down her work computer every evening. And I reboot the router monthly or whenever it seems slow.
That’s a trope in many of the movies, evil computer is going to nuke the world, and humans know ahead of time and are powerless to stop it. Except humans control the power to the computers, can disable the physical mechanisms that are used to launch or can physically disable the missiles themselves. I think I remember the Russians were a little worried during Y2K and their solution was to simply park a big truck on top of a silo. If it opened the truck would fall in and smash the missile to pieces.

Microsoft IS evil with their “Recall” software continually recording what’s on your screen.
