That’s the great thing about choice. Play away. One of the few perks of getting old in the US is the Senior Meal. I really don’t need the toys; got too many as it is but play away Uncle Ted ….
Uncle Ted is on a nostalgia kick. I wonder what will make Brutus nostalgic in 20 years. Maybe he’ll be watching a horror movie and think back to his (hopefully long departed) mother-in-law. Or his boss. Or he’ll smell tires burning and think of Gladys’s cooking. Or be bitten by a small dog and think of Hurricane Hattie.
I decide which menu I will use depending on how many meals I can get out of it. Sometimes I order extra so I am good for a few days at home. I remember having my daughter as a child at a McDonald’s and she got a small toy car of the type that you pull them backwards and then they go forward. I realized two young men next to us were watching my child play with it. I asked them if they wanted to see how it worked. They lit up. My child happily shared, and they figured it out and and gave it back. Engineers, of course. Just have to know how everything works. It was smiles all around.
Depending on where we go, my mother will order from the senior menu, child’s menu or a la cart. We tend to stay away from restaurants that have you order a main dish, and then expect you to pay for sides. $10.00 for a baked potato is way out of my comfort zone. That’s on top or the $50.00 steak or seafood entree.

The senior menu often located on the back of the menu is always a good choice as well.

I’m 74 and I wish I could order from the Senior menu…but it wouldn’t work for me. Maybe soon

The Chinese (don’t judge, OK?) takeout near me serves GREAT meals! One “meal” equals supper, then lunch the next day, and good portions both times!

My wife always gets the kids meal at Bojangles, same reason

But that’s a kid’s toy, adult toys are a lot more expensive.

I’ve heard that more people are ordering from the kids’ menu at restaurants to help with portion control.

Well, if the toys make you feel young again, Uncle Ted, I say go for it!
