Young Prometheus had a complicated relationship with liver.
Eating his liver at mealtime did indeed make him smart. But that smartness later got him into big trouble with Zeus. Long story short: Tied down to a mountain rock, his own liver would be devoured by an eagle, then grow back overnight, only to be eaten again the next day in an ongoing cycle.
By the way — Nobody ever ever thought to ask the eagle its opinion about this monotonous diet.
