There was a critic in the San Diego paper that I used to pick movies to see. If he liked it, I would hate it, if he hated it, I would love it. He was very helpful in picking out movies.
They all work best if merely used as a barometer. Like Siskel and Ebert; if they both liked the movie, then fine, but if Siskel liked it or if Ebert didn’t like it, then based on their past reviews, I would usually like the movie.
This is how I feel about Netflix rating its own material. Show rated as, “The next great epic story, a tale for generations!” 9.7 stars. Rating on IMDB: 3.3 stars. Me looking up that rating while watching this hot garbage and wondering if Netflix has anything good at all: 1-star.

He speaks their language. He’s also fluent in liquified cabbage, and moldy potatoes.

Ha! I feel the same! The more they say a show is the greatest, the more I’m disappointed. Why is that? Expectations , I guess…..LOL

Rotten tomatoes do have a certain a-Roma.

As long as you can rely on a critic’s evaluations of published works, it doesn’t matter whether you agree.

well, it’s still useful, then if interpreted properly. (I used to do that with certain “critics”)

How my dad thought of Siskel and Ebert’s reviews.

Read the reviews. Anybody who just counts stars deserves what they get.

Now Fang, they are not dead, they’ve just fermented, and Eno can deal with anything fermented.
