I remember how the military was forced to take the Naruto run seriously, and had to explain it to their superiors.

    It was glorious.

We can have no clue what aliens might have. I suspect planets that come out shooting have extinction events until they develop a species with better manners.

FYI: It’s actually called CONPLAN 8888-11. Originally designed as a joke, but now used to learn basic concepts of plan and order development

I think the basic idea is “if you’re prepared for a zombie apocalypse you’re prepared for anything”

Good lord, it really is a thing

CONOP 8888 – WikipediaCONPLAN 8888, also known as Counter-Zombie Dominance, is a U.S. Department of Defense Strategic Command CONOP document that describes a plan for the United States and its military to defend against zombies in a fictional military training scenario.

No need for that plan. He’s leaving office today.

Think of it as an exercise in emergency planning; most of it is basic instruction for not losing your head. ;) Happy trails!

Yawn. You mean the story that “broke” in 2014? The CONPLAN was written as an exercise for junior officers learning to write contingency plans and zombie apocalypse was picked because it was funny and engaging and it wasn’t politically risky like planning an attack on a real country would be. Or, as stated in the DISCLAIMER at the beginning of the plan: This plan was not actually designed as a joke. During the summers of 2009 and 2010, while training augmentees from a local training squadron about the JOPP, members of a USSTRATCOM component found out (by accident) that the hyperbole involved in writing a “zombie survival plan” actually provided a very useful and effective training tool. Planners who attended JPME II at the Joint Combined Warfighting School also realized that training examples for plans must accommodate the political fallout that occurs if the general public mistakenly believes that a fictional training scenario is actually a real plan. Ratherthan risk such an outcome by teaching our augmentees using the fictional "Tunisia- or “Nigeria” scenarios used at JCWS, we elected to use a completely-impossible scenario that could never be mistaken as a real plan.

I once said, ‘We will bury you,’ and I got into trouble with it. Of course we will not bury you with a shovel. Your own working class will bury you.

This actually exists—though only as a training scenario.
