Don’t worry, Addy. I don’t plan on being a parent ever and I still know for a fact that being one is stressful.

You’re twelve and can’t cook, Heart? You’re making us Philly kids look bad.

About time for Heart to learn how to make simple dinners! I started having my kids helping me at a young age, by age 12 they certainly could have managed to cook pasta and a simple sauce (from scratch! not a jar). They’re all pretty gourmet cooks by now (32, 28 and 24) and invite us to dinner regularly :D

I was a decent cook by the age of 12. I was also contemplating suicide on a daily basis. I wouldn’t wish my stressors at 12 years old on anyone, any more than I’d wish my current stressors on anyone.

Come on, Heart! Your apartment almost certainly features a microwave.Remember, before the building you live in was divided into apartments, cooking was done via the fireplace.

The National Cookbook, authored by “A Lady of Philadelphia” was published in 1850.It is important because it is the first cookbook in the United States to use exact measurements (Some in gills, but still…). The publicity-shy author was Hannah Bouvier Peterson, who went on to create a sensation with her later works about astronomy.
