This fella must be new to the pub scene. Otherwise, he’d know all about that “professional” moocher!

Andy’s sponging for beer would drive customers away from the pub that Andy is loitering in.

Well that’s not really a coincidence, since Andy is always gasping for a beer…

Andy doesn’t like to see anyone drink alone.

No, he’s gasping for another sucker.

I’ve done many 10 hour and 12 hour shifts in my time. Never again. Too depressing.

Unlike our friend in the strip, half the time they were night shifts and the pubs were shut when l finished.

CLASSIC ANDY CAPP STRIPS DEPT.

Panel (1.) It’s rent day and Percy is knocking on the Capp’s door.

Panel (2.) Next door shouts, “They’re out!”

Panel (3.) Percy starts knocking on their door.

Panel (4.) Andy from behind his door shouts, “They’re out!”

Panel (5.) Percy is sitting in the gutter with his head in his hands, talking to the reader.

“There must be easier ways to make a living!”

Gasp!

“Then buy yourself a beer… You don’t have any monrey? That’s sad. I’ll go drink my beer over at that table so you don’t have to watch me drink mine.”

This guy looks more like a 9 to 5 worker than someone that toils in labor.

Gasping is something one does when they have a hard time breathing or out of breath. Maybe the man needs some oxygen.

If Andy worked a 10 hour shift he wouldn’t be gasping for a beer. Not to mention it would be a miracle if he had a job

Well he worked a long day of cadging beer, with not much luck.

I don’t recall seeing Chalkie with Andy lately, I guess Andy’s still peeved after Chalkie left high and dry the other night.

Sure Andy has pulled a 10 hour shift. Ask Jack. 12 pints and still gasping dry.

Not to nitpick… much! … but the drawing of the gent in the first panel does not cleanly flow into the rest of the gag. He should look more like panel #2 if we believe he’s tired and gasping for a pint. In panel #1 he looks too dapper and relaxed.

It’s like the artists cut and pasted the character to begin another joke then changed the gag, and was too lazy to change the character’s expression.

In the last panel, Jack’s probably thinking “so what else is new?”

How many different ways can he mooch a pint?

I just finished my 8 hour shift and I’m drinking a beer and reading this.
