Husband goes into a major panic whenever the āSā word is used on the news!
We were suppose to get a huge storm this past weekend. I had my embroidery club meeting almost a week before. He was already so panicked that I could not leave him home alone. He came and sat in the car reading a book online in his phone. I had invited him to come to the meeting ā he has come to meetings in the past and even taught a class at one meeting, but he said he would stay in the car.
He spent the rest of the week in panic. We pay someone with a lawn mowing company to clear our snow (and mow our lawn) and husband was sure that they would not come and clear the snow (at least our 3rd year with them). It is just how he is these years. One problem is that it bothers him that we can no longer deal with the snow ourselves any longer. Also he is sure we will be stuck in our house with no heat or food (never has happened).
But ā being stuck in the house ā we did get the last of the indoor Christmas decorations stored away.
Sometime between Tuesday morning and Saturday evening? It will begin on Saturday morning and be cleared away by Monday morning so you wonāt get to miss any school which is what youāre really hoping for.
With all the over hyping by weather reports, in search of eyeballs and money, Iāve gotten to where I donāt watch it. A simple one line summary for the day, min/max temp, possibility of precip, is more than enough.
I live in the PNW and we have four major drivers of the weather: the Pacific, Canada, the Cascades, and California. The forecast can change radically within a few hours.
Our only state-wide news station has gone utterly nuts over weather. They have multiple weather forecasters and, if there is as much as a flurry coming in the next week, itās all-hands-on-deck. A half-hour of news will have 3-4 weather segments with at least two forecasterās playing off of each other. Then, once the snow starts, they will āturn it overā to other weather people and/or the rest of the news team, who have been sent out all over the state, even as they are imploring us to stay off the roads, to stand in the falling snow and tell us itās snowing. This weekend we were to get 5-9 inches, for us a minor snowfall, and it was all about how you had better get out early and get your shopping done before the snow āstormā because the Superbowl shoppers wound be out as well and there would be nothing on the shelves and the crowds would be impossible. The snow lasted for a few hours, overnight, and the roads were clear within an hour of it stopping. āThe snowfall rates could be as much as an inch an hour, or more, in some isolated areas depending on elevation and temperatureā. Sheeeeeezh. Then thereās wind. āThere could be winds of up to 25 miles an hour, with gusts to 35 and possibly us high as 50ā. Oh, and, of course, all of the forecasterās are smoking hot and wearing tight dresses and made up to the nines. But I digressā¦.
For the local weather forecast without all the television hype, go to . The forecast is straight from the National Weather Service. One of those agencies Trump is trying to put his thumb on.
The weather reports are becoming just like the news reports ā They donāt care about reporting true or accurate informationā¦ They want you to watch so they over dramatize in an effort to ātune in at ten for detailsā.
Here in DC, we are expected to get a couple of inches tomorrow night and Wednesday morning before switching over to rain later on Wednesday. It should be nice to look at on Tuesday afternoon/evening. But itās expected to get pretty soggy Wednesday night and the coming weekend as well. Oh well, we need the precipitation.

Spoken like someone who doesnāt have to shovel the stuff. I have to admit, in my youth I looked forward to snow days to get a break for school.
