Gotta love Mondegreens! This joins classics like “There’s a bathroom on the right,” “Scuse me while I kiss this guy,” and The Young Rascals’ “That would be ecstasy, you and me and Leslie.” Nice work, Scott.

And now he does want to get lost. Which is also what she wanted. Win-Win?

I sang it hat way for over thirty years before I knew the correct word but, they didn’t get me with a bathroom on the right.

Or, from Garth Brooks: “I’ve got friends in Lowell, Texas, where the whiskey’s brown and the beer is tasteless”

Hi Scott, shades of January 21 here? Oh well, at least it saves on doing new artwork altogether! (Not a criticism, but admiration for your ingenuity!)

..I could see this as a repetitive theme, “Guess the song”..

John Fogerty would sometimes sing (accidently, on purpose) about the bathroom on the right.

OMG, that is exactly what I thought it was saying! Today I learned.

Isn’t this the same as January 21st’s strip (except then it was Clown’s in my coffee? The drawings look almost identical. (Not a criticism, I do like that it was a different song).

I’ve always sang along to David Bowie’s 1984 with the refrain “Beware the sounds in store, in 1984”. Then in recent years, read the lyrics transcript, “Beware the savage jaw, in 1984” from several sources. What is a savage jaw? Best I can come up with is Churchill’s (since DB is English) speech where Jaw jaw jaw is Talk talk talk (in lieu of war).

From the first time I heard it I thought I thought Dobie Gray was saying Beach Boys even now. Even though I know he’s saying Beat Boys I still sing Beach Boys.

I like Sal’s version—not that I don’t like the version with the actual lyrics.
