Occasionally customers where I worked during college at Steak n Shake would ask for ice coffee back in the 70s. We learned to stick a metal knife in the glass of ice while pouring the hot coffee so as not to break the glass. Another secret was to add a packet of Sanka into the glass to make the flavor stronger.
