3. forced to pay for Christmas light displays so there’s actually no ‘freedom of religion’

People who have never lived in a condo think this is a joke. I’ve lived in a condo. It’s no joke.

Give little people a little power expect small minded foolishness !

I surprised they didn’t start out with: “Here is the list of your infractions so far. The fines are $$$$.”

This is so real, it’s funny. When I sold my condo I made sure there was no HOA when I bought my house. I will never again live in a HOA-run community.

Hell’s HOA is redundant.

And I thought our HOA was bad… but at least she got a heads up on hers. we didn’t find out we had HOA until my parents got there first bill. :{

This is correct.

What’s sad is that the Hell’s Angels have less rules than the typical HOA.

I have friends that have a small HOA consisting of a few houses in a Cul-de-Sac. Dues are for maintenance of the common area and the gate that leads to the ditch trail. Not very restrictive, but my friends have noted some members can still be a bit of a pain.

Been a LOT of HOA cartoons lately. Has some HOA board been murdered?

Having lived in both non-HOA and an HOA ruled communities, I’m actually glad for most (MOST) of our current HOA rules. The previous neighborhood had cars being repaired 24×7 on both the street & driveways, dead lawns, dead trees, peeling paint, broken fences, etc. Not every one of course, but enough to be an issue in a touted “nice” neighborhood. Only issue I had with current HOA was a complaint about a weed growing in the front garden, it was a volunteer cedar tree. I took pictures of it and additional ones of the dozens of Russian Thistle growing in the HOA controlled commons areas, got an apology from the board. ymmv

So are these the guys that “live in Hell and rent out their other place”?
