It should be like that since the day Wilberforce was born.

My youngest was raised with our dog. Heā€™s very protective of her.

Every boy should have a dog, for a dog teaches a boy three valuable traits: fidelity, perseverance and to turn around three times before lying down.

You can always tell the character of a person by how they treat animals.

The dog will be arthritic, or dead, by the time youā€™re a man.

    ā€œRound up the usual suspects.ā€

(As ā€œI think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendshipā€ is a quote from ā€œCasablancaā€, I thought Iā€™d get in on the funā€¦ ā˜ŗ)

And when Kewpie ages and dies, your heart will break, Wilberforce. Oh, I forgot ā€“ nobody ages and dies here.

What a sweet and wonderful strip today! Iā€™m reading it while playing with our five month old Havanese puppy, Mazie. Mazie came to live with us on January 6, after we lost our two previous dogs within 10 days of each other. One was expected but the other was not and we grieved deeply. Mazie has brought sunshine into our home, not to mention all sorts of puppy teeth marks!

For those who may not be familiar with this, the closing line of the movie ā€˜Casablancaā€™ is: ā€œLouis, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.ā€ spoken by Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart) to Captain Louis Renault (Claude Rains) as they walk away from airstrip.

I only wish they could live longer. Funny how every pup weā€™ve had represents a different stage of our life. Woody (miniature schnauzer) when we started our family. Willie (Standard Schnauzer) as the kids grew up. And now Quincy, (Williesā€™ nephew.) as our kids are starting their families. (4 Grandsons so far!) Dogs are special!

I am so lost without my beagle. Thanks for todayā€™s strip. Wilberforce and Kewpieā€™s bond will continue to grow and be stronger every day. The love of a dog is unconditional.

Many dogs prefer kids. Having someone to keep up can go a long way.

The hardest part is dogs age faster then kids, I remember burying more than one in my backyard as a kid. To this day I still remember their names, some 60 years later. Love the moment they donā€™t last forever.
