My cat, Madison, became my cat when I took her in for one night only intending to bring the stray to the shelter the next day. (Found at an apartment complex dumpster.) She was such a good girl in her dish soap flea bath, and I decked out an oversized box for her to sleep/play in while I fell exhausted into bed.
She, of course, had other ideas, and kept flinging herself bodily out of the box intent to play!
Exhausted (it was LATE!) I figured I’d let her escape, be scared by my terrier mutt Sam, before putting her back in the resealed box so I could finally get some rest!
She flung herself out of the box!
My pup excitedly ran towards her, a kitten in his territory, the audacity!
She ran TOWARDS him!
He stopped, confused!
She LEAPED onto his back!
He panicked, bucking all over my bedroom, crashing into furniture in his state of confusion.
I had to fight through my tears and laughter to get her off of him. I really was worried as Sam had a heart condition, but thankfully he was okay, if a little rattled.
That was the first night they slept on my bed together. One under each arm, and I woke up sore from the position the next morning, but also in love with his new sister.
They have both since crossed the Rainbow Bridge, where I hope he finally deigns to give her the cuddles she always attempted in life. I miss them so.
Leave that cat alone, Gus. What did it ever do to you? Never thought of poodles as being into chasing cats. I guess it goes to show you never can tell. On another note, saw two robins, nine juncos, and a wren while out walking today.

Gus had Larry digging holes in the garden last week. And…old Mrs. Faraday did not appreciate being barked at. Larry still has that lump on his head.

A dog that chases cats, is one that has never caught one. Cats have a five to one advantage in weapons.
