This is a comic strip. It answers to it’s own rules, meaning I use what I like. LIO also still uses a rotary telephone. And it’s been three years, and LIO hasn’t aged a bit…and never will. So it is very likely that Dad’s TV will always be an old-style walnut case Emerson with antenea reception because that’s the way I like it.
This is why I always liked “The Addams Family” more than “The Munsters”; the latter was just another ’60s sitcom with a gimmick, while the former had a strong, loving family that just happened to march to its own beat.

Aww! Squishy, and that other thing, and Dad, and the boa [does he have a name?]. A quiet evening at home in front of the TV….
rayannina about 15 years ago
The boa is Frank, the lobster is Mittens, the squid is Ishmael … and it’s scary that I know this.

Re. Pearls: I’m sure glad Mark draws our Lio … but it was a funny crossover.

Maybe the Pearls appearance will signal to some papers that they’re missing out by not carrying Lio…

I agree with Doc - it’s a gestalt kind of thing that loses if you keep trying to update it.

At some point, every child ever born is a Weird Kid, and I for one wouldn’t have it any other way! The best of us grow up to be Weird Adults, too!

Where’s the kitty? Just off camera with a flamethrower, perhaps.
