I’ve never thought of Monty as a ‘short bus wearing a helmet’ kind of guy. At least not the helmet.

Anybody know how the concept of April Fools got started? When most of Europe went from the Julian Calendar to the Gregorian calendar in 1500’s the new year started on Jan. 1 rather than April 1. Some people in France did not like this and insisted the new year should continue to start on April 1. The majority of people decided to go with the new calendar date and began to call those who insisted on sticking with the April 1 date as “April Fools” and began to play tricks on them.

April 1 is the start of the season of Happy Trails! I will be leaving the daily readings and coming back on the weekends, much to the annoyance of the grumpy readers who would like me gone completely. So for this week, we’ll enjoy our laughs together! Happy trails!

Congress should have made April Fools Day a national holiday long ago.
