Back in the day, a million bucks was a real fortune, but times sure have changed. If you take a stroll down history lane, that same million would’ve been worth a whopping $29 million in today’s money. Meanwhile, in Mary’s time, all it took was $34,000 to have the same buying power as a modern millionaire. Just goes to show, being a millionaire ain’t what it used to be, and folks yammering on about it need to catch up with reality.
Good morning all and a special hello to PP. I knew a guy who got paid to fill in the seat for various actors who went to the restroom. They are on standby to make sure the seats are full. Have a great day full of smiles and kindness. My greeting was deleted yesterday, but hopefully this will remain. ☺️☺️❤️
Steven Spielberg asked John Williams to do the music for Schindler’s List and Williams said he is not worthy and there are other great composers to which Spielberg replied: Yes but they’re all dead. John Williams won the Oscar for Best Music and Original Score for the movie. Another score he did that I love was Memoirs of a Geishas’ Sayuri’s Theme with YoYo Ma on Cello and Itzhack Perlman on violin.
Mary Pickford was apparently one of the few women Chaplin didn’t sleep with in the world of silent cinema. When l read a reliable biography, l counted more than 30 ‘notches’!

Pickford was a blonde. She was famous for her curls of blonde.

Too bad Liam Neeson didn’t win an Oscar for Schindler’s List.
He must have thought it a foregone conclusion since he was playing a German businessman named Oscar.

Being Canadian, Mary Pickford’s $1,000,000 was actually worth $1,425,400 to her.

I’ve seen a lot of old movies but none with Pickford. From what I gather, she was better at investing than landing roles in popular movies.

That definitely USED to be true for the Oscars, but with the awards going crazy in last few years, I wonder if it still hold true.

Mary Pickford was also a Canadian.

Winning an acting Oscar may increase the actor’s net worth by 310%, but people still don’t go to see the Best Picture.

I am listening to John Williams right now. His Hymn to the Fallen is amazing

John Williams is also the first (and maybe only) person to be in competition with himself for an Oscar.
