Of course one never knows how to take care of EVERYTHING. It cannot be done. The point of reaching adulthood is to know precisely that and to know you still have to take decisions. You cannot put it onto others.
My kids are in their 30ās & there is so much I should have figured out, but didnāt. That was with almost constant prayer. Now I pray that our kids will be better parents than we were.
thereās quite a lesson here- live for the moment, donāt try to rush or slow down time, because you wonāt affect time, you just have to go with it
I completely missed mom and dad changing places! The change seems to have happened yesterday. In the first panel momās head can be seen on the right but in the last panel it seems like dad is on the right.
Unfortunately being the head of the house doesnāt make you exempt from feeling violated when your home is broken into. In fact it can make you feel more so simply because you feel itās your job to ensure that sort of thing doesnāt happen but since it did you feel you failed in some way. Dadās feelings are quite justifiable.
Iām hoping this thread continues until the burglars are caught and the familyās āstuffā is returned, but since I heard this is based on a real break-in I donāt think thatāll happen.

I have no real control over the present or the future but I know the one who has and in Him I find real peace.
I think of it daily but have failed to succeed in practice. I wish I could find peace in Him and Him alone. But I am bothered by human relationships and other material things. But well said Yukoner. :)
Someone must be a really restless sleeper, they keep swapping sides of the bedā¦ Wouldnāt you be restless after having your house burgled?ā¦ But still ;)
Oddly, I find it very comforting that we are all ad-libbing a bit. The idea of having it all plotted out and knowing exactly what to do all the time sounds good but would squeeze all the life out of living. And this from a father of two teenaged boys!
But where are Calvin & Hobbes? Havenāt seen either forever. Did the burglar snatch them? Did they sneak out to snatch the burglar? Is Dadās main fear that those two will take over the earth? Calvin, where are you?
Thereās been some awful heavy stuff going through here. Makes me wonder if Mr. Watterson was experiencing some unpleasantness during this timeā¦ā¦ā¦.
I noticed the bed switch, too, both yesterday and today.
My husband always sleeps on the side closest to the door of the room weāre in. That means we switch sides when we sleep in the RV. Took the cat camping with us last week-end, and he was sooo upset that we werenāt on the ārightā side of the bed.
rise22, the right side is always the right side of something you are on or in (car, stage, bed). Iām disappointed in mom and dad, they thought adults had it all figured out when they were kids? Most of got most of their education from ugly puppets with irritating voices on TV.
Being left-handed, I prefer that my partner sleeps on my right. She seems to like it better too. Sheās right-handed.
I wonder if thereās been a study about opposite-handed couples being more compatible and nocturnally fulfilled than same-handed ones. I bet we are.
Dagwood Bumstead, the SKNXXX king, has always slept on Blondieās right. I donāt even know why I know that. I havenāt seen the strip in at least 15 years. As a kid, I used to wonder if they ever had sex or if they were more like my parents.

My husband and I are both right-handed and after being married for almost 22 years now, Iād say that weāre still just as ācompatible and nocturnally fulfilledā as the day we married!
Amen, Dad! Adults have only a few advantages: they have made enough decisions to have some idea of what not to choose, and they know who to ask. Likewise grandparents: theyāve seen a lot of the problems earlier, so are good ones to ask when in doubtā¦
Well, we are all on the same wavelength ācause as I finished reading this strip today I thought āAmen!ā and itās already been said hereā¦ a few times. But it canāt hurt to say it again so Amen! I think that alot of what we read about in this strip reflects Wattersonās thoughts thoughts and feelings at the moment just as any work of art will transmit itās authorās thoughts. Anyway, he was and still is a frigginā genius. Bill, come back! We miss you!
When I was a child I thought everithing is obvious, to have a job, to have a flat or a house to live, to have money and something to eat. When school was over I recogniced that it is not obvious to have a job and money. I had to learn it!
