About a week ago, someone had predicted that this arc would go all Cinderella on us. It looks like that is exactly what is going to happen. Excellent prediction !
People disagreeing on all just about everything, yeah,
Makes you stop and all wonder why.
Why only yesterday I saw somebody on the street
Who just couldn’t help but cry.
Oh, this ol’ river keeps on rollin’, though,
No matter what gets in the way and which way the wind does blow,
And as long as it does I’ll just sit here
And watch the river flow.
Well I’m glad to see Walt is an object of concern again. And ya know, like most folks here I’ve got my opinions about how Jim is running this strip…I miss the “old” GA characters and would like to see more of them. But these new characters are good too. Bottom line, I’d follow any strip Scancarelli did, he’s got talent and discipline that has almost vanished from the medium (or in the case of Dick Tracy, vanished a couple years ago).
“Watching The River Flow” is as good of a Bob Dylan reference as any, although I suspect that the good Professor Byrd would opt for “Just Like A Woman” instead!
Byrd doesn’t need Gertie’s phone number. Byrd KNOWS where Walt lives - and that Gertie lives there with him. All Byrd has to do is go back to Walt’s house, knock on the door - and Gertie will not have any other choice except to answer the door. Of course, she might slam the door in Byrd’s face after tonight - but at least we will know that Byrd did NOT let NOT having Gertie’s phone number stop him.
Catch her, Byrd. You are both a little on the heavy side, but I think you can outrun her, if you really want to. Or did you mean it when you said you wanted to marry her before?
I think the people at the diner took Walt home. Gertie better hope she can latch on to Byrd and that he is making some money. I think there’s a pink slip waiting for her at Walt’s house.
If they get married, her name will be Gertie Byrd. You know from that alone that it’s destined to happen, in this strip of corny names. They’ll have twins called Tweetie and Sweetie.
Good call Ocean17, on the marriage and her name. The only problem with kids is I think Gertie is well past her prime child bearing years. She’s hardly prima gravida. If I recall she already has grown children somewhere.

Walt?
Oh yeah, that guy.

Well, heck. He worked in a diner OWNED BY WALT’S SON. If he can’t figure out how to track Gertie down, then he needs to have a brain transfusion.

Walt who? Oh yeah, one of the characters who at one time was the lead in this comic strip. How about giving Bird and Gertie their own ‘strip?

Go after her, Byrd, don’t let her get away. Look for Mr. Walt together.

Goodness - will this story line never end?

@ axe-grinder - I never had a lot of use for dylan, despite being in the same generation, but I have to say this song certainly fits!
