“… his teeth ain’t fallin’ out like my nephew’s are.”
More representative of the general demeanor of NASCAR fans than everyone really wants to admit. These are the same type people who way back when heard the song “Okie from Muskogee” and didn’t get the joke.
Jeff wanted to do the Big Daddy Roth homage. Actually, when I created the image of Dr. Tzap (he’s not the driver in this strip) back in the 70’s (Tank’s 35th birthday is tomorrow), I was channeling Ed Roth and the Weirdo series.
happy birthday to Tank!
hard to believe it’s been this long!
i remember when he was just a “loveable but fumble mouthed sports broadcaster” and taking psychotherapy to get over the belief that any dropped object was a fumbled football that he needed to recover.
thanks, bill, to you and jeff, for many years of laughs.

Hey, isn’t that Dr. Tzap? (Although the “Big Daddy” Roth reference works, too!)

That meth must be strong stuff in order to both enlarge and “tzap” the driver that much. Ed “Big Daddy” Roth homage, indeed. :)
Wow, it was worth it to come back to this thread and see Bill Hinds’ explanation! I’ve always loved Tank, all 35 years of him!
Great, Bill. Now you’ve made me feel old. ;)

@Rakkav: feeling old is all right, as long as you don’t ACT old.

Well, yyyguy, there’s a bit of a problem there: my mind stopped aging at 25, but my body went on anyway.
