Maybe what they should with the Dick Tracy comic strip is like what they did to “Peanuts” Peanuts is now known as “Peanuts Classic” comic strip. Re-print the old strips. They should go back and publish the old stories done by Chester Gould.
Maybe the case looks so empty despite apparantly having 3/4 of a mill inside it is because Tracy got some $1000 dollar bills… or maybe it was poorly drawn. Either or.
Perhaps marktrail, Tracy has used explosive money for most of it (with real moneys taken from King-of-clubs as cover).
(pilfered from episode of never-popular series Masquerade, where Lavender hands over a briefcase of cash to a KGB; “Boris” tosses the briefcase out of his car and comments “You really thought I would fall for the old ‘exploding briefcase’ trick, Lavender?” to which Lavender answers “no–but you did fall for the ‘exploding money’ trick” just before his driver lead-foots the pedal)
Already something’s “funny” with the money ! The scam gave B.O. three quarter’s of a million. Today, Big Ace implys THAT sum is his “share”! Was One Eye working and taking all that RISK for a zero share – NOTHING ?
I don’t think so !
Maxine has noted that Tracy brought a total of One point five million, but see how the amount fluctuates from day to day, from now on
Perhaps The Writer knows EXACTLY what he is doing and WHY. But what’s the POINT if we his readers haven’t got a clue ?
Dick Tracy looks really emaciated in Panel #1. I don’t blame him, this arc has been going on a long time and I haven’t seen him have a slice of anything to eat. I think Ace would have been okay with him taking a dollar or two out of the loot to get some fast food on the way over. Seriously, Dick Tracy, that super-skinny look is sooooo two thousand and late.
Always meeting or exceeding the crime king’s expectations. Is that some sort of career goal for this superdetective? Maybe next year, DT can update his career goals to include “try not to hold a man’s briefcase like some sort of timid grandma when standing in front of major criminals.”
I think that since Mattie left here in a self-imposed huff and departed with some questionable language, I’ll try to be the good Smaritan and “pinch hit” for him, as there’s now no one to defend the Genius as he continues to stumble. Not even the one who bestowed that grandious mantle on him (Don’t mind it’s just an “alter ego” talking)
Defending the meriad of DL goofs is always a tough one so I took Mattie’s advice and put on my red sweaterand red be’ret to try to authenticate some sort of vindication for Big Ace not knowing Tracy.
I’m sure it’s just that Locher “forgot” to tell us. He’s getting up to that kind of age now. He needs a little slack.
“Big Ace is a new Mafia Don who recently arrived from Sicily and doesn’t know the local police”. And unlike Carlo Coratelli he never read the comics.
That’s the “official” defense (Mattie could use, and say he got it from the horses mouth) He has my permission.

Okay, so that’s one and a half-million. Noted.
Some crime boss – doesn’t even recognize Dick Tracy, the scourge of the underworld for how many years? Pfft.

The reason there is double the expected money is because Tracy stopped by the Roulette wheel on his way up and put the 3/4 million on “Black” and won.

There seems to be lots of empty space in that briefcase.

Safeway674, I agree.

Tracy looks like he’s finally figured out that a bagman makes more than a cop. This way, he can finally afford a nose job like Big Ace.

We also have to wonder – Does he ?

Tracy should have peeled off a few bills to get pearl necklace for Tess…. in the end, who would know?

Maxine, I think you’re being too hard on Big Ace. After all, most of us don’t recognize this Tracy either :-)
