I never had someone watch me play baseball. One time i caught a fly ball without a glove. They were no one there to cheer me except in my own mine…I heard thousands of people cheering.
In yesterday’s current day version of OBH there is a comic crossover in which Joey and Ruthie’s grandfather meets the grandfather in Pickles among other senior citizens. I always felt that Mr Pickles is a standin for OMH’s grandfather
It’s universal. The other day I saw a news article on German soccer parents – the kids’ leagues finally marked off boundary lines 20 meters away from the fields where the parents had to stand.
George and Martha are obviously Mr. and Mrs. Wilson from Dennis the Menace! It was interesting when Willie’s original owners turned up to visit Willie and the kids were worried that Willie would want to go live with them. But the original owners explained that the place where they live now wouldn’t allow dogs, so they couldn’t take Willie with them – even if Willie had wanted to go! I thought that was sort of a neat way to resolve that whole issue.

Play in someone’s yard, right in front of their big picture window — then you’ll have someone to yell at you!

At my condo the kids just have to get out on the lawn with a ball (any ball) and someone is sure to start yelling…at them.

Oh, I forgot to mention, the lawn is reserved for the dogs. We even provide the bags.

In my day we had designated stomper-yellers if there were no grown-ups around.Usually girls.

Evidently the “adults” get their enjoyment from arguing over the game—the kids would usually just rather play.
