Coming Soon đ At the beginning of April, youâll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
What a touching surprise! I feel kind of sorry for Mina, since she has clearly been exploited by cousin Morning Gloria. Note that Lizz is very surprised (panel 3) as well.
It is funny and clever, but what would the comments have been if Locher had used that same trick? I know that the guys have built up the fact that this lady doesnât have much in the brain department, and I know theyâre in a hurry to finish, stillâŠ
Gotta love the look on Lizâs face in the last panel.
I donât know your secret identity, but Shelley, Shane and Jim all contribute much more than theit âcreditedâ jobs. Jim gave me a nice idea for next February. Shelley did some added dialogue last week I liked. She also adds art details. Shane doesnât get as much attention, but heâs a talented artist and writer as well. Which is why every Sunday thereâs 5 names.________________________________________
Thanks, Mike. When I first started this business was very different. The fact that Shelley does her âinkingâ on her computer would blow the minds of Caniff or Capp or anyone from those days.
This move on the part of Liz hearkens back to Chet Gould. Chet Gould knew how to let us into a villainâs mind and understand his/her motivations. Dick Locher never had a clue what Dick Tracy was all about, nor, apparently, did he ever care about the strip. Under Dick Locherâs leadership (or lack thereof) Iâm surprised the strip wasnât cancelled. Locher must have had his nose wayup somebaodyâs rear end to last as long, and as incompetently, as he did.
A GIFTED mini sequence there (Mike). And more kudos to the character for using it. That sort of novel thinking (writing) has been missing from the strip since Gould retired in 1977.It speaks volumes on Minaâs pay grade and seems âright in characterâ given the way she was âusedâ by Doc Codd back in 1940
Readers appreciate that special âfeelâ for characterization, those little nuances tells us the Writer has carefully done his **â**homework â
Only adjustment needed is âstory lengthâ. Readers no longer have that âwell lovedâ CHASE sequence that Gould used to great advantage. Iâm sure thatâs TMS **â**misreading â what the strip needed.
Moving ON â quickly- is a good strategeyonly when you have a clunker on you hands (like that 2009 Circus tale). Iâd like to think those dull stories (without interesting characters) are behind us now.
The only states to still call them LVNâs are California and Texas, they are LPNâs everywhere else. Assuming she is in Illinois, Mina would have to have gone through this. What is really scary is the licensing of RTâs. You know the person who takes an X-Ray of your body parts. In some states there is no requirement of any license at all, in short Mina is qualified.
All joking aside, I think this new team is doing a great job on this strip. When was the last time we saw Tracy and one of his team in a knock down, drag out fight like this? I donât miss Chester Gould a bit!

Thatâs the problems with Mercenaries, they can be bought off.

If Liz was fighting a battle of wits she was fighting against an unarmed opponent!

Quick thinking, Lizz! Now give her the tenner, give her a yo-yo to keep her occupied, and go help Tracy.

Putting the âcomicâ back in comic strip!

Anyone that know my background know that I started in comics at Harvey. Any resemblence between Nurse Mina and Baby Huey is coincidental.

First time Iâve LOLâd at an adventure strip in a long time. Great job, team.

Iâd do something âshamefulâ too â if it was a matter of life or death like it was for Lizz.
