Luann by Greg Evans and Karen Evans for December 02, 2011

Transcript:
Captain: "Hey! We're here to put OUT fires!"
Captain: "Now I remember why I put you two at different stations"
Brad: "Probably a good idea, sir. She's a wild one"
Toni: "He's totally uncontrollable"
Please don’t let TJ off the hook with no reprecucions. He needs to be pulled up short. If he is allowed to believe that he is responsible for Brad getting his job back as a fireman, he’ll use that to back-up every stupid idea that comes to mind.
Brad wanted to propose to Toni before he lost his job. When he did, he was afraid Toni wouldn’t take him. Now that he got his job back, what’s stopping him?
I just today finished a marathon-reading of Luann starting back from 1994. What an enjoyable adventure. Took about 5 weeks. What a nice day to pick to end up on. Pure chance of course…luck too. :-D
That was pretty funny and yes, I spent a few minutes trying to figure out if I could turn the initials into one..And the coffee was awful this AM, but then I made the mistake of letting Mordock get in line ahead of me. All that was left was a lot of grounds and burnt-tasting dishwater.
I love Luann. I just want to know when Greg is going to out TJ. This guy is so gay. And cute. I don’t believe he has ever had a girlfriend, he has a taste for design, he loves to cook. Time for TJ to find a boyfriend. Hey, how about the cute blond captain of the fire department?
I knew it was going to happen. it was just a matter of when it was going to happen, each day i couldn’t grab the news paper fast enough to see what was going to take place next…lol
I just had to finally sign up after being a lurker for so long. I have been reading this strip for as long as I can remember, and believe me that is a very long time…LOL. As time went on and I read less and less of a newspaper, I stopped reading the comics, but I have always read Luann. The Brad and Toni arc is one of the main reasons I read it, but the whole strip is wonderfully done. I am happy to see Brad & Toni finally taking the next step (hopefully)
Comics are not for adults? I am closer to retirement than out of college, male, married, kids, professional. And I still love comics. Mostly the graphis novels now, but Luann still rules!!!!
You really kinda overdid it, Mojito. Do you think honestly you convinced anyone with your instant “he’s professor chaos” response, the purpose of which was obviously to draw attention away from yourself…C’mon, you act exactly like Chaos and using bad grammar and punctuation on purpose doesn’t change anything. Time to cough up, troll.
At most, B&T will let TJ sweat a little but nothing spiteful. True, TJ instigated the confrontation between Toni & Anne but she acted of her own accord. Plus, he was the one who told Brad about Toni’s idea to quit her job for him.
TJ is an enigmatic Karma Houdini (TV Trope, look it up for specifics) but he is a good person.
Being new to the strip, I tried to look back at a couple of different years to get a line of some of the characters. Biggest thing: Greg’s style has cleaned up a lot, removed excess background clutter, and does a much better job drawing his characters. Gunther was kind of an abrasive character, TJ’s hair seemed to be blond, and Brad always wears the same shirt (like Charlie Brown). Most importantly, the girls look good. Bottom line: Luann is a nice way to start the day.
I have a cat who falls alseep on top of the TV. Occasionally he rolls off and falls flat on his arse, and he always gives me the “I meant to do that” look. He’s way more convincing than you are, clydetoad. The Watchers On The Wall have you pegged, nimrod.
I’m glad this is ending on a happy note, but I really don’t find it very satisfying. It’s too much like a romance novel. There was a big build-up, then…nothing.
I’ve got a sneaking suspicion that Greg is about to give TJ the comeuppance he SO richly deserves – all without being as NASTY as Real life can be.As for MS.Awful Eiffel; I suspect Weenie World Corporate is about to get a nastygram, in the form of a lawsuit reporting her sexual harassment of her former employee…Greg, you listening here?
Yeah, it’s a pity that instead of Mojito’s “side game” reference, the principles could arrange a sidebar so the rest of us wouldn’t be exposed to the deep doo doo.
You mean Cartoonist Studio? If so, they also have an ignore user function so you can filter out the useless noise. That alone went a long way to solving problems.
I think they should take a pic together in their uniforms and send the pic to Annie Eyesore and then write “Guess What?” and then she will get an eyefull.
I love all Greg’s threads and pretty sure that the irrispnsible ones will see retribution (TJ and Ann Effle). We need to see this pair properly coupled!
About Brad & Toni getting married and having a baby: wouldn’t this cause a rift in the space-time continuum of the Luanniverse? The baby could never age, because Luann and friends must forever remain in high-school.
The real firefighters are the CDC and volunteer firemen Brad wants to be one that gets paid for sleeping and shopping Watching tv in lazyboys when they all have a full time job on the side that’s why the fire dept should work 8 hour shifts like all the other employyees
cooking is gay?: I made almost all my camping gear (lots of sewing there) and cook about a third of our meals (my wife does about the same, we each make our own for the same meal a quarter, and we eat out (because of traveling) the rest. We are both quite straight.
Late post, but I don’t see anyone acknowledging that at least two fire stations (aka “halls” in regional USA parlance) have the same Captain as was suggested by some … ahem … including me.

I wasn’t expecting this relationship to ever happen, but I am so glad it did. :-)
buchser about 13 years ago
I absolutely LOVE this strip! Tremendous work Greg. First strip I read every day.
imbaldeagle about 13 years ago
Brad just might – MIGHT, I said – get the hint that Toni would be interested in talking about marriage now.
TexTech about 13 years ago
Or maybe awful Ann Eiffel?

mojitobaby about 13 years ago
Good one – but “Sane” is the troll who comics.com booted off the site years ago, he knows the cast.
Chuck373 about 13 years ago
A Saturday proposal of marrige – in the third panel – followed by another arc or two. Greg likes to leave us hanging.
froglunch about 13 years ago
So happy! I’m all smiles.
Professional Rookie about 13 years ago
It would be hilarious to see TJ working at WW to try and get in on Ann eiffel, but completely striking out with her.
DuskyPaws about 13 years ago
A bit too TMI if they are talking about their downtime somewhere…lol

The course of true love never did run smooth.
DaJellyBelly about 13 years ago
It’s good to see the captain has a sense of humor. Yep, separate fire houses for the two of them! :-)

Someone should do a paper on how schlubs in comics/toons get the hot women – Homer Simpson, Barney Rubble, Brad, Adam @ Home, etc.
weblais about 13 years ago
Deus ex machina. Someone “conveniently” leaves, allowing Brad to come back to the force— and get married— and we all live happily ever after.
underwriter about 13 years ago
@Dragongirl, his mouth is busy.
Tinyman about 13 years ago
Ya oh boy really uncontrolable. Any wilder they gonna break the sound barrier.
cwkrrk about 13 years ago
Anyone notice that Brad has figured out how to grow hair while aging vs. the reality a lot of men face?
mojitobaby about 13 years ago
“Sane” has been actively trolling under another name – and making a fool of himself in myriad ways trying to get attention. More to follow about that…
Naldr about 13 years ago
It is time for Brad to ask Toni to be his bride
violinrules about 13 years ago
I am totally liking this ending!
ptkhg about 13 years ago
betcha weenie world burns down
drewpamon about 13 years ago
@Naldr no Brad’s been knocked down for that before. Toni is going to ask him.

Toni’s monstrous mane of hair would be a major safety hazard when fighting fires…

if they only knew huh Greg!!!

This is my absolute favorite strip!! Brad & Toni just plain make me happy! :-)
hippogriff about 13 years ago
They were assigned separate stations even when they were doing the talking fire truck act. The rescue was at what was at least a two-alarm.
worldisacomic about 13 years ago
Next the captain pulls the no fraternization code on them so they both cannot work for the same department.
mama&papa about 13 years ago
Soooo cool!! BEST strip in a while!!
ACTIVIST1234 about 13 years ago
49 Comments!?!? My gosh, if we like happy endings, if we like the direction this is going, more of us are going to have to let the writer know!
ddlfrt about 13 years ago
Now they should celebrate by getting dressed up in their firemens suits and go to Weenie World to give ol’ Ann an eyefull.

TJ is not gay. Enjoying cooking does not make one gay

BTW, If you enjoy this strip so much ,Then Pay the fiddler. Its only a buck a month. You can’t get a cup of coffee for that.

I wouldn’t mind it if Brad told TJ to stop meddling, though, TORAD. What’s it going to take for that to happen?

Yes, even before I suspected you of being ol’ Chaos, I think it’s obvious that you’re a complete king o’ trolls.
The Only Sane One Here about 13 years ago
Oh, but I do feel that way about today’s society, so that tied nicely in with accusing you. Cheers!

Nice joke, Captain, but that’s one fire no department can extinguish. —Must be time for an arc switch….
ArtCreator about 13 years ago
tomorrow might be Toni telling Brad what she told the captain.
ArtCreator about 13 years ago
LOL, and Brad will get all surprised about the future husband part. then on Monday we get back to either Knute and Crystal or Luann, Quill AND Tiff.
