Joanie: Um... wasn't that a yellow light? Alex: No time to lose, Gram! We're on a mission! We're gonna go to south Boston! And Dorchester! And Cape Cod! And we're going to Springfield! And Pittsfield! And Gloucester! YEeee-aaah! Joanie: What on earth was that? Alex: My trail whoop! I used to be a Deaniac!

Didn’t that trail whoop kill Dean’s campaign?
rayannina almost 13 years ago
Yes. Yes, it did.

South Boston and Dorchester are contiguous, and Gloucester and Cape Cod are less than an hour from Boston. If that’s their itinerary, I was right about GBT’s parochial view of Massachusetts. On the other hand, if they actually make the two-hour drive to Pittsfield in western Mass, then lwp is right and GBT understands that MA is more than Beantown.

What, no Springfield? No Amherst?

Anybody gotta map to check out her route? Is it irrational? Like π?
DylanThomas3.14159 almost 13 years ago
Think grams was unnerved by Alex’s screaming? Wait’ll she hears her own screaming when that reptile starts coiling around her thigh.
Ravenswing almost 13 years ago
Well … c’mon. If Alex had morphed into a typical Bostonian, her itinerary would stop around Rte. 128; your average eastern Massachusetts resident only has a vague notion that the rest of the state exists.
roctor almost 13 years ago
The changing of the olde guard to the new crop.Panal four reflect that well.

@Morgil Ravenswing, that’s very true. I’m Pittsfield born and raised and I live in Boston now. I’ve met far too many native Bostonians who fit your description, I’ve started saying I’m from the Berkshires so they’ll at least have a clue as to how far West I grew up.
I’m somewhat amazed that GT knows that Pittsfield exists. Most people don’t.

I wonder how many different names there are for grandparents? My paternal grandparents were called Mamaw and Papaw.

Alex is as crazy as her mother.

John Dean made the big mistake of letting the public see behind the curtain. That blip was so small and insignificant compared to the current blunders and memory lapses, it’s almost funny now to remember it.

Like my Gramm used to say, “never do anything on camera, that you don’t want looped 24/7 by Cable news.”
Varnes almost 13 years ago
Jimwill, wrong name, but the statement is true!

They can cover Massachusetts in a day or two, no?There’s a single county in CA (San Bernardino) that has twice the square mileage of the entire state of Mass.

GT is a name dropper. Wow, Pittsfield!!!!

If DEAN had done his war whoop AT FIRST he’d have won.
Go get ’em, kid. With you all the way!

Grams was an idiot for just not standing firm and telling Alex NO. Some kids just can’t deal with NO. Alex is clearly one of them and needs to be told it a few times.

From where we rented in MA, Cape Cod was two hours east, and Pittsfield andTanglewood were 1 1/2 hours west. Gloucester could be final stop on return to Boston for these two. Lordy, I miss my vacations in MA!

I’m disappointed that “Oops” hasn’t entered the lexicon. Especially after SNL picked up on it. Might be because so few people are that stupid.

Sad that that yes-hah killed Deans run. I thought it great to see somebody with some enthusiasm for what they believed in.
Dragoncat almost 13 years ago
Deaniac? I thought Alex was in “Thelma and Louise” mode.Well, as long as there are no canyons on their route, they should be OK.
DylanThomas3.14159 almost 13 years ago
Either that or he has an MA road map.
FriscoLou almost 13 years ago
This is great! Alex’ll keep Joanie young.

“…they unfortunately pass by Worcester …”. How do they pronounce “… Worcester”? When I visited it, it sounded to me like “Wuh-stuh”.

galanti almost 13 years ago
I find it hard to believe a Southie would vote for Warren.
grouchobeer almost 13 years ago
This is awkward. It shows Alex has been at MIT for seven years.
FriscoLou almost 13 years ago
I think the authentic pronunciation of Peabody, is Peebidy. Watch’em have to come up with another Siri language recognition software update just because of Boston.
