Frank: My first investment was in a couple of savings and loans, just before they collapsed. Frank: I invested in internet companies right before the tech bubble burst. Frank: And I went heavily into real estate, then the housing market went bust! Frank: I still think I'm going to hit it big! Frank: But I'm not as young as I used to be... Frank: I just hope that my ship comes in while I'm still able to unload it.

When I was a kid going to a Pentecostal church, gambling was considered a sin. When I married, my (now ex-) husband tried to convince me that “investing” in the market was not gambling, and investors would not go to hell. — Ironically, although my views on the subject of sin and hell have changed dramatically in the last few decades, curernt events have upheld my naive beliefs about gambling.

We used to unload a semi-truck-load of (altar) wine by hand. Then we began renting a forklift to get the pallets off the truck. Then we remodeled so we don’t have to lift the cases at all. We definitely are not young enough to unload the ship(ment) when it comes in.
