For some reason this kid’s “being Chinese” thing makes me remember an old song that was only rude if you knew what “turning Japanese” was supposed to mean. Which might be why the radio stations played it so much.

Either that, or they didn’t know what it meant.
Another song in that catagory that was on the radio in the ’80’s was “Relax”. If they had realized what it was about, it would never have seen airplay. But I rollerskated many miles to that song.

I Googled it and looked at Wikipedia which didn’t tell me anything.

I know what it’s supposed to mean, at least in the song, but even knowing that I never understood it anyway.
